Tottenham’s Carabao Cup third round clash with local neighbours Leyton Orient appears to be in serious doubt after the League Two club confirmed that a number of first-team players had tested positive for Covid-19.
The teams had been scheduled to play on Tuesday with Jose Mourinho even conducting a pre-match press conference via zoom on Monday morning in which he suggested Harry Kane would play.
Kane, who spent time on loan at Leyton Orient earlier on in his career, sponsored the club’s shirts this season to support key workers, mental health charity Mind and Haven House Children’s Hospice.
However, the game looks unlikely to proceed as planned with Orient announcing that their Breyer Group Stadium and training facilities had been closed until further notice after their Covid-19 outbreak.

Tottenham had paid for the Leyton Orient’s squad to be tested on Saturday with no current protocols in place at League Two level for regular tests, as is the case in the Premier League.
Given Tottenham’s congested fixture list and the fourth round of the Carabao Cup due to take place next week, it has been suggested that the Premier League side could be awarded the win.
Elsewhere in the third round holders Manchester City will take on recently relegated Bournemouth while Premier League champions Liverpool are in action against League One side Lincoln City.
There are some potentially exciting games to come in the fourth round with Liverpool set to face either Leicester or Arsenal if they defeat Lincoln, while Spurs could face Chelsea if they see off Championship side Barnsley.

How to watch the Carabao Cup on TV
Although the EFL ran supporter test events for matches at the weekend with eight clubs hosting up to 1,000 fans inside stadiums, there are currently no plans for fans to attend Carabao Cup games.
As such, every game in this season’s competition is being shown live on TV, either on Sky Sports or via the carabaocup.live website on individual clubs’ streaming services.
Any game not shown on Sky Sports will be streamed online in the following circumstances:
- EFL Club vs EFL Club – streamed on iFollow or club equivalent service
- EFL Club vs Premier League Club – streamed on carabaocup.live
- Premier League Club vs Premier League Club – streamed on carabaocup.live
Fans will have to pay £10 per match for those not on Sky. Those without a Sky Sports subscription who want to watch an individual game, can purchase a one-day streaming pass from NowTV.
