What time is France vs Morocco today? Kick-off time, TV channel and how to watch the World Cup semi-final live

Kylian Mbappe has the chance to set up a blockbuster head-to-head in the World Cup final with his PSG teammate Lionel Messi tonight.

Fresh from edging out England, his France side are appearing in the second semi-final at Qatar 2022, after Messi inspired Argentina to a 3-0 win over Croatia last night.

However, they will face a tough task against a Morocco side who have surpassed all expectations with a series of rousing displays – here’s when to watch the game live.

What time is France vs Morocco today?

France vs Morocco kicks off at 7pm (UK time – Qatar is three hours later) on Wednesday 14 December at the Al Bayt Stadium in Al Khor.

The match is being aired live on BBC One, with Gary Lineker presenting the build-up from 6.30pm.

Commentary comes from Steve Wilson and Danny Murphy, with Alan Shearer, Rio Ferdinand and Didier Drogba will be on hand to provide expert analysis from the studio.

The entire 2022 World Cup is being broadcast on free-to-air television in the UK, with the BBC and ITV sharing the rights.

When is the World Cup final?

The 2022 World Cup final between Argentina and either France or Morocco taking place on Sunday 18 December, kicking off at 3pm – it will be broadcast on both BBC One and ITV1.

With the final falling exactly four weeks after the tournament started on Sunday 20 November, this is the shortest tournament since the World Cup switched to its current, 32-team format in 1998.

What can you expect from France vs Morocco?

Morocco have already made history as the first African team to reach the semi-finals, having stunned Belgium, Spain and Portugal along the way.

And their coach Walid Regragui says his sisde will now fight to achieve their “crazy” dream of a place in the World Cup final.

He said: “The further you get, the more difficult the games are. We are playing the world champions with world-class players and a very good coach, possibly the best in the world.

“But we will show great desire and try to pull off an upset. Why not reach the final of the World Cup?

“We’ve come to this competition to change mindsets within our continent. If we say the semi-final is enough, I don’t agree.

“We aren’t satisfied with the semi-final and being the first African team to do that. We want to go further.”

Regragui added: “We are hungry. I don’t know if it will be enough but we want Africa to be on top of the world. I know we are not favourites but we are confident. You might think that’s crazy, but a bit of craziness is good.”

France remain the overwhelming favourites, however, and centre-back Raphael Varane said there will be no danger of complacency among his teammates.

“We have enough experience in the team to not fall into that trap,” he said. “We know Morocco aren’t here by chance. It is up to us, as experienced players, to make sure we are all prepared for another battle.”

Didier Deschamps, the France coach, also acknowledged the challenge his side faces in breaking down their opponents: “Yes, it’s true, Morocco have been very strong in defence. And none of their opponents has managed to find a solution.

“But they’re not just good in defence. They wouldn’t have reached the semi-finals if they were just a defensive team.”
