After failing to win a game Liverpool dominated Jürgen Klopp admitted that the points dropped against West Brom felt like a defeat.
The Liverpool manager confirmed that neither Joel Matip, who was injured in the 1-1 draw, nor Naby Keita, who missed the match with a muscle injury, would feature in Wednesday’s match at Newcastle.
“It feels like a defeat yes but we have a point more so it is completely fine,” said Klopp with a smile. “The boys are more angry with themselves than anyone. We had enough chances but we didn’t play the right pass.

“West Brom played the first half in a way I haven’t seen for a long time. We must have had 90 per cent possession but we didn’t score a second and that is our fault.
“You have to use the chances when you have them. We wanted to win and should have won but now I have seen the full 95 minutes I feel they deserved a point.”
As Sam Allardyce left the press conference, he remarked: “We were not lucky, we were very good.”
This was a point that would give West Brom fans belief that their manager’s record of never having been relegated would stretch through another season.
“Nobody outside our dressing room thought we had a chance especially after they knocked seven past Crystal Palace,” said Allardyce. “We defended as a pack and in the second half we found a way to attack Liverpool.
“We said in the dressing room at half time that we couldn’t keep defending. If you pass the ball sideways or backwards against Liverpool, you will find yourself with three of their players up against you. That happened a lot in the first half.
“But, if you say we were battered, I would say this. Our goalkeeper Sam Johnstone had the highest save count in the Premier League before today and he has made only one against the best attacking team in Europe.”
