No England players have reported injuries after coming through the gruelling semi-final against Denmark, manager Gareth Southgate has confirmed.
Southgate’s staff will make more in-depth checks back at their St George’s Park training base on Thursday morning but none of the squad have revealed any knocks after playing 90 minutes and extra time.
“At the moment it seems everybody come through the game OK in terms of injury,” Southgate said. “Not sure this is the best moment to assess everything, but they’re not reporting anything.”
Southgate only made one change during the 90 minutes which ended with the game tied 1-1, replacing Bukayo Saka for Jack Grealish in the 69th minute.
But he made three more in extra time, bringing Jordan Henderson on for Declan Rice and Phil Foden for Mason Mount.
Southgate even substituted Grealish back off again after England took the lead through Harry Kane, replacing him with Kieran Trippier to strengthen defensively.
“Raheem was causing so many problems all night it had to be Phil or Jack coming off, it was not an easy decision,” Southgate said.
“In the end Jack said: ‘I’m not really bothered we made the final!’ He had the impact we wanted in the game.”
Southgate added: “They’ve found ways to win matches in whatever circumstances they’re in. Leading from the front, going behind, extra time, penalties, they’ve found those solutions. I felt we were dominating in the last half hour of normal time. Extra time we had more legs and energy.”
