Conor Coady pinpoints what Wolves must improve to turn results around

MOLINEUX — Nuno Espirito Santo did his best to disguise his concerns at Wolves’ faltering start but Conor Coady, the centre-back and captain, made it clear improvements are needed quickly if the club’s season is to pick up momentum.

Saturday’s defeat left Nuno’s side in the bottom three and while Thursday’s Europa League meeting with Braga offers a chance to quickly draw a line under this loss, it is also the 12th game of Wolves’ demanding season that began in late July.

“The good thing is we’re in all competitions and the games are coming thick and fast,” Coady said. “We’re giving teams too much space and we’re going behind in games too often. We go behind and we’re chasing it so it’s important that we do that better.”

Frailties exposed

Wolves have yet to be ahead in a Premier League game and their frailties were exposed by Chelsea’s pace and movement.

“We’re coming up against top teams in the Premier League and we’re giving them too much space and we need to do something about that,” added the centre-back.

“Teams like that will hurt you. From our point of view we’ve got to look at the way we are doing things as much as possible because it’s not good enough. It’s certainly not good enough from our point of view because of the standards we have set so we’ve got to make sure that we rectify it.”
