After their 5-1 thrashing of Arsenal on December 29, Liverpool sat ten points clear of Manchester City in the table albeit for less than a day.
Fast forward to Wednesday night and City’s victory over Everton means Pep Guardiola’s men are now table-toppers with Liverpool sat in second on goal difference and a game in hand.
In their last two matches Liverpool have mustered 1-1 draws against Leicester and West Ham and have now conceded eight goals in their last six Premier League games.

An ongoing injury crisis has resulted in James Milner and Jordan Henderson playing at right-back and Jurgen Klopp awaits the return of several key players.
Liverpool host Bournemouth in the Premier League on Saturday. Can the team get out of their mini-slump and get back to winning ways?
Here’s what Liverpool fans have been saying on fan forum This is Anfield:
This game is absolutely massive. We need a reaction to recent poor results and performances. If you want to be potential champion there really has to be a reaction from the players on Saturday. donks
We haven’t got the best team or most money but we have a manager who can turn good players into excellent players through coaching and hard work and not with an unlimited transfer fund. Nobody could have predicted the kind of injuries and illnesses that have left us thin with selection. Scott Jones
So much could hinge on this weekend. Win this game and the pressure is back on City to beat a Chelsea side who will be rested and could start the game in 5th place and knowing their CL spot is in danger. If we drop points and City win, I think we’re a long way to being done. jaffod
We should be delighted at being back in the title race again, I understand the nervousness but this is much better than hoping to finish fourth. 4-0 would be excellent for getting us out of the mini-slump. We’ll be much better soon enough anyway. sms1986
I’m feeling really optimistic about this game. Virgil Van Dijk hasn’t looked 100 per cent since his illness and I think he’s going to come out in beast mode. Hopefully Henderson and/or Wijnaldum are back. Time to believe – it’s going to be a good weekend for Liverpool. Ljc1109

Arsenal
Top four is still seriously on and plenty to play for. Hardest game of the season is out the way now and it seems we picked up no new injuries so that’s a positive start at least. OnlyOne (Arsenal Mania)
Bournemouth
Having failed to get anything at Cardiff we don’t want to return to the bad habits of shipping three and fours. Our midfield without Brooks is flaky – time to try something different now we have Mepham to bolster central defence. langham (Up The Cherries)
Brighton & Hove Albion
With two different goal scorers in the cup and three different scorers in the previous round, it does show we do know how to score and have more than one player doing it. Cozzy (North Stand Chat)
Burnley
Should have been three points that. Barnes, although he worked his socks off, and Wood both miss their chances again. Still one point is better than none. Good old Crouchy won the pen for us. Foreverclaret (The Longside)
Cardiff City
On the back of two outstanding performances the lads are still out to ‘do it for Sala’. As long as our travelling fans make enough noise and get the away stand rocking that will spur the lads on. Snoopystorm (Cardiff City Forum)
Chelsea
If we get maximum points this weekend, it will make City more determined to beat us in the League Cup final for revenge. On the other hand, if we can beat City thrice in a season, that will be remarkable! Wallosh (The Shed End)
Crystal Palace
Taking into account Ayew’s performance on Saturday, I can’t see Roy dropping him. Again he had very little goal threat but Roy commented on how much work he does for the team again. MonsterMunch (Homesdale.net)
Everton
This game should hopefully have given Marco Silva some clues as to what’s gone wrong. Kenny needs to start ahead of Coleman. Sigurdsson slows things down to a crawl and doesn’t offer enough. Pickford can’t command his area at set pieces. larrygobfiend (Grand Old Team)
Fulham
I have no problem with bringing in the odd youngster or two, who are knocking on the door. Their energy and fearless enthusiasm would put certain other players with big reputations to shame. Woolly Mammoth (Friends of Fulham)
Huddersfield Town
Even though it’s mathematically possible, I can’t see us avoiding the drop. It’s about performance now, building a bit of confidence and learning the new man’s philosophy. I just hope we can score a few. K1man999 (Down At The Mac)
Leicester City
At least one of Mendy/Ndidi need to be dropped immediately. I’d be interested to see a Hamza/Tielemans pairing, with Hamza as the ‘destroyer’ and Tielemans the creative force in the middle. Xen (Foxes Talk)
Manchester City
We controlled the game almost completely. We’ve got a team full of winners and character in abundance, one of the finest coaches who has ever lived and the knowledge that we’ve done this before. The Light Was Yellow Sir (Blue Moon)
Manchester United
We do have to keep in mind that we have PSG a few days after Fulham so might see some rotation, or hopefully we get a quick lead and can rest players like Pogba in the second-half. Bosnian_red (Red Cafe)
Newcastle United
I know defensive play isn’t everyone’s cup of tea but at least we do it really well, the likes of Man City, Liverpool and Spurs find it really difficult to break us down. Don Sholeone (Toon Forum)
Southampton
Ings’ fitness has to be a concern – it’s no real surprise, but he misses too many games. It seems that he can’t stay fit for longer than four or five games maximum. Saint Garrett (Saints Web)
Tottenham Hotspur
I’m on the fence with Lamela, he is a good player on his day and gives his all every time he plays but injury limits him to only being able to play from the bench or only once every two weeks. Stuart3455 (The Fighting Cock)
Watford
We have been lacklustre the past two games with Cleverly offering little ball carrying abilities and we are playing central midfielders on the wing as we have no real alternative. Domthehornet (The Hornet’s Nest)
West Ham United
Great performance last night, we were superb throughout. Had enough chances to win it, thought we deserved 3 points with the way we defended and the opportunities we created. Antonio was immense, Diop and Ogbonna were the other two standouts. Rossal (West Ham Online)
Wolves
As a weapon to bring on second half there’s not many better than Traore. When he’s wide right he beats his man 4 times out of 5 and frees up the chance for a cross. Wolvesaywe (Molineux Mix)
