England squad – in full: The 30-man group to face Wales, Belgium and Denmark at Wembley

Phil Foden and Mason Greenwood have been dropped from Gareth Southgate’s latest England squad after their indiscipline in Iceland last month.

Defender Harry Maguire, however, has been recalled, after being cut from the squad after he was convicted of multiple offences in Mykonos. Maguire is appealing the court ruling and did not lose his place in the team at Manchester United or the captaincy.

There is a call-up, also, for Everton’s in-from striker Dominic Calvert-Lewin. The 23-year-old has scored eight goals in five games since the start of this season, including two hat tricks.

Foden and Greenwood are being punished after they were sent home from England duty for breaching the team’s tightly controlled coronavirus bubble by inviting two Icelandic women back to the team hotel.

Manchester City’s Foden, 20, and Manchester United’s Greenwood, 18, had only just made their England debuts against Iceland in the Nations League the day before.

Southgate said he would speak to the pair before announcing his latest squad for a friendly against Wales and two Nations League fixtures, but was left baffled by their actions.

The England manager has taken a hard line by not calling them up this time, despite Foden’s impressive start to the season, as he tries to restore some discipline to his side.

Dominic Calvert-Lewin could not have timed his latest hat-trick much better as Everton put four past West Ham in the Carabao Cup.

The 23-year-old catapulted himself back into consideration for Gareth Southgate’s consideration with a goal every 50 minutes so far in the Premier League.

On Wednesday night, the 23-year-old was in an unstoppable mood again as West Ham became the latest side to fall victim to his blistering start to the season.

In just five games so far, he has already scored more than half the 15 goals he managed in all competitions last term – and that was a career best.

Carlo Ancelotti’s impact is obvious, his upsurge in form coming off the back of the pair’s first full pre-season together.

The real key to his transformation, however, has not been down to hard work alone.

Ancelotti has him working smarter, not just harder. As a result, he puts his transformation down to him being more “focused in the box”.
