The Champions League final will close out the 2020-21 season before the focus switches to this summer’s European Championships.
At the semi-final stage, Chelsea, Manchester City, Paris Saint-Germain and Real Madrid all remain in contention for the Champions League.
Chelsea beat Porto in the quarter-finals, and they take on a Real Madrid side who knocked Liverpool out of the competition.
The other semi-final sees Manchester City, who beat Borussia Dortmund 4-2 on aggregate in the last eight, play last year’s losing finalists PSG.
PSG got their revenge against holders Bayern Munich in the quarter-finals, and Mauricio Pochettino’s side are only just behind City with the bookies as both clubs chase a maiden triumph.
When and where is the Champions League final?
The 2021 Champions League final takes place on Saturday 29 May at Istanbul’s Atatürk Olympic Stadium. The kick-off time is set to be 7pm BST, with Turkey two hours ahead.
It is the same venue as Liverpool’s 2005 triumph, dubbed the “Miracle of Istanbul” after they recovered from a 3-0 half-time deficit to beat AC Milan on penalties.

Champions League odds
City and PSG are yet to win a Champions League, but the winner of their semi-final is set to head into the final as favourites.
Real are 13-time winners of the competition, while Chelsea won their first and to date only European Cup nine years ago when beating Bayern Munich in the 2012 final.
Odds best available at time of writing on 27 April:
- Man City – 11-8
- PSG – 3-1
- Real Madrid – 7-2
- Chelsea – 4-1
Will fans attend the final?
The Turkisk Super Lig is being played behind closed doors this season, meaning no supporters have attended matches at the Atatürk Olympic Stadium, where Fatih Karagümrük play their home matches.
UEFA’s website states information about the ticket sales for this match – availability of tickets, application deadline, ticket prices – should be communicated around the end of April.
The governing body could, however, wait for the second legs to conclude in the first week of May before making a final decision.
Covid-19 travel restrictions will also undoubtedly play a part. International travel is banned until at least 17 May under England’s lockdown roadmap, and a decision is not expected until early May as to when exactly this will be lifted.
