The Football Association will investigate an incident involving Leeds United’s Ezgjan Alioski and Burnley’s Dwight McNeil after a report was made by a player to the referee following Leeds’ 4-0 win at Turf Moor.
McNeil leaned over the prone Alioski after the Leeds wide man had remained down following a challenge, with the Burnley player appearing to say something.
Alioski retorted with a gesture, placing his hands by his ears and sticking out his tongue.
The game was temporarily stopped by referee Graham Scott following the incident, with the official speaking to the managers and captains of both teams before play resumed.
“A report has come into the referee and that will be passed on to the FA,” Dyche told reporters after the match.
“One of our players made the report and I was there to be a witness to the report, not the incident. The report has been made with the referee and that’s where it will stay for now.”
When asked whether there was a racial element to the report, Dyche opted not to comment.
The Burnley manager substituted McNeil shortly after the interaction, but says that the two factors were not related.
“I was going to take Dwight off,” he said. “He’s put in a lot of effort this season and done very well. This was the first time he’s looked a bit jaded. I was nearly going to leave him out before the game, he’s put a big shift in this season.”
Leeds manager Marcelo Bielsa added that he saw the argument but was not aware of a specific element that would prompt a report.
“If there was a gesture I didn’t see it,” Bielsa said. “In front of me I saw a dispute, I didn’t think it was too different to what happens in games.”
The report has been passed to the FA via the match referee and the governing body will investigate before taking any further action.
