Why is it called the Heads Up FA Cup final?

This season’s Emirates FA Cup Final has been renamed the Heads Up FA Cup Final.

Lead partner Emirates – who have sponsored the competition since 2015 – have supported the campaign to dedicate the final to Heads Up, which is spearheaded by HRH The Duke of Cambridge and has been visible across all levels of English football in the 2019-20 season.

“The campaign has strived to raise awareness, spark conversation and signpost support for those in need, highlighting to the nation that we all have mental health and it’s just as important as physical health,” an FA statement said.

Godric Smith, chair of the Heads Up campaign, added: “We’re extremely grateful to the FA and to Emirates for this unprecedented gesture of support. Dedicating the final of football’s most iconic domestic cup competition to Heads Up is a huge statement about the importance of mental health and their commitment to it.”

Can fans attend the FA Cup final?

Like the semi-finals, the FA Cup final is scheduled to take place behind closed doors at Wembley due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

Supporters have not been able to attend football matches in the UK since the coronavirus lockdown, and talks are ongoing as to whether fans will be allowed back at some point during the 2020-21 season.
