Ole Gunnar Solskjaer insisted his Manchester United side were the victims of refereeing “inconsistencies” during their 2-1 defeat to Sheffield United at Old Trafford.
There was a question mark over the Blades’ opening goal as Kean Bryan headed in at the far post with David de Gea having come under pressure.
United’s sense of injustice was aggravated further when Anthony Martial thought he had equalised, only for Harry Maguire to be penalised for a coming together with Aaron Ramsdale.
Maguire made amends with an equaliser against his hometown club as he headed in his first home goal for the Red Devils.
It meant little, however, when Oliver Burke capitalised on a deflection from Axel Tuanzebe for the winning goal.
Solskjaer was left to rue his side’s sloppiness, but the Norwegian also hit out at the discrepancies between the two similar incidents which might have changed the game.
“Take nothing away from their performance but we didn’t have the right ideas or the solutions, they weren’t there,” he told BT Sport.
Sheffield United have had no luck all season…
Maybe they were due a goal like this ????

When asked for his view of Sheffield United’s first goal, Solskjaer wasted little time in conveying his disappointment. “Foul,” he said. “Billy Sharp just runs into [De Gea], behind him so he can’t get up, so it’s a foul.”
When asked for his opinion on the second goal, he added:
“No foul. But it’s this kind of season, inconsistencies and it’s going to be unpredictable. That’s two mistakes by the referee.
“It wasn’t to be and the second goal we concede is just so poor, so sloppy.
“We lose the ball easily, get back into position but we just stop getting out to the ball…completely out of character. And that’s maybe down to the season it is, as well.”
