England made it two wins from two for Lee Carsley as they ran out 2-0 winners against Finland at Wembley.
The visitors, who are currently ranked 63rd in the world, made life difficult for the hosts in the first half.
Their solid defending proved tricky to break down and but for Topi Keskinen’s bad decision-making they might have taken the lead.
But their stubborn resistance eventually gave way as Harry Kane struck twice in the second half to mark his 100th appearance for his country in style.
Here’s how we rated England’s players out of 10:
Jordan Pickford – 6/10
Had very little to do in all honesty, apart from a slightly embarrassing moment when he almost gave the ball away to Teemu Pukki.
Trent Alexander-Arnold – 8/10
Given the licence to roam freely and made the opposition pay for it with two killer passes.
John Stones – 7/10
Snuffed out the danger on the few occasions he was called into action throughout the evening.
Ezri Konsa – 6/10
Caught out on a couple of occasions in the first half which led to two counter-attacks that amounted to nothing. Limped off the pitch minutes into the second half after picking up an injury. Aston Villa will be hoping it isn’t too serious.
Rico Lewis – 7/10
A right-back by trade, played out of position on the left and hardly broke a sweat.
Declan Rice – 6/10
Not his best night in an England shirt. Grew into it and got better as it wore on. Perhaps getting used to his new midfield partner.
Angel Gomes – 8/10
A mature and composed performance from the Lille midfielder, which was particularly impressive given it was his first senior start for his country. Will be amazed if he doesn’t move back to the Premier League when his contract expires next summer.
Bukayo Saka – 7/10
England’s main threat in the first half. Might have had an assist if Kane hadn’t been ruled offside.
Jack Grealish – 7/10
Unable to repeat his heroics in Dublin but looked dangerous in patches. Combined well with Anthony Gordon on occasion. Played the full 90 minutes.
Anthony Gordon – 7/10
Like Grealish, a bright spark throughout, particularly when hugging the byline.
Harry Kane – 9/10
The first time was so nice, he had to do it twice. What a fitting way to celebrate his 100th cap.
Substitutes
Levi Colwill – 7/10
Eberechi Eze – 7/10
Noni Madueke – 7/10
Marc Guehi – 7/10
Jarrod Bowen – 6/10
