Aboubakar Kamara was arrested at Fulham’s training ground for actual bodily harm and criminal damage and has been banned from the club indefinitely.
Police were called after the forward was involved in an incident on Monday night at Fulham’s Motspur Park base, in south west London.
Kamara, 23, had been left out of Fulham’s last two squads, against Burnley and Tottenham Hotspur, by manager Claudio Ranieri.
Trouble has been brewing
The Italian was furious with Kamara for taking the ball from penalty taker Aleksandar Mitrovic against Huddersfield, then missing the spot kick and it emerged last week that the two players also had an argument during a yoga session.
The Frenchman, signed from Amiens in 2017, last played in a New Year’s Day defeat to Arsenal, in which he scored, but is not expected to play for the club again.
Taken into custody
A Metropolitan Police spokesman said: “Police were called to a training ground in New Malden, shortly after 17.00hrs on Monday, 21 January to reports of a fight.
“Officers attended. One man, in his twenties, was arrested on suspicion of ABH and criminal damage.
“He has been taken into custody in a south London police station. Enquiries continue.”
Fulham said in a statement: “The club is grateful for the swift attention and action by the Metropolitan Police immediately following our reporting of the incident on Monday.
“The subject who was arrested is banned indefinitely from Motspur Park and all club activities.
“We will refrain from further comment but will stress that we will fully cooperate with any new or continuing investigation or legal proceeding in the name of providing everyone a secure and safe working environment.”
