Arsenal will be hoping to get back on the horse after Manchester United threw them from FA Cup contention on Friday, with Neil Warnock’s Cardiff City side visiting London on Tuesday night for Premier League action.
Unai Emery’s side are contending with a defensive injury crisis, especially in the centre-back position, which Cardiff will hope to exploit as they seek to move out of the relegation zone. Currently sitting in 18th the Bluebirds are two points off safety, realistically three when you consider their goal difference.

While both sides are in scratchy form at the moment, the Welsh visitors are seeking their first ever Premier League win over Arsenal, who have taken three points in all three top flight meetings of the two sides in the modern format. Arsenal fans may also be a little more nervous when they see the referee appointed to the fixture.
Cardiff City players will also honour their missing striker Emiliano Sala by placing yellow daffodils on the pitch prior to the fixture. The search for Sala and the pilot David Ibbotson was called off on Thursday evening with no trace of the aircraft discovered by rescue teams.

Arsenal’s injuries to Laurent Koscielny and Sokratis, sustained during their FA Cup exit against Manchester United, compounded their defensive injury crisis. However, post-match comments from Unai Emery suggest that although the Frenchman’s injury is likely to be severe, Sokratis may recover quickly from his knock. The Greek may line up in a centre-back pairing with Shkodran Mustafi if he is fit, if he isn’t then Granit Xhaka or Stefan Lichtsteiner may take his place, in the case of the latter affording Ainsley Maitland-Niles another start at right-back.
For Cardiff City, Sean Morrison will be out as he is recovering from a burst appendix, meaning Bruno Ecuele Manga will likely start alongside Sol Bamba, with Lee Peltier at right-back.
Here’s how the sides could line up:
