South Korea out of the Asian Cup… but when is Son Heung-min available for Spurs?

Can you hear that? It’s the sound of a collective sigh of relief from Tottenham fans hearing that South Korea have been knocked out of the Asian Cup.

South Korea had utilised Spurs talisman Son Heung-min for the tournament, but now the injury hit Premier League side are set to be reunited with the forward who was enjoying a lethal run of form before his departure.

That prolific form saw Son become popular with Fantasy Premier League managers, as well as Tottenham fans.

But how soon can we expect the 26-year-old to feature for the league’s third-placed side?

How soon will he feature for Spurs?

Despite showing signs of fatigue during South Korea’s Asian Cup campaign, particularly during the last 16 tie with Bahrain, Son vehemently denied that he was struggling with a congested run of fixtures for club and country.

“After the game I feel tired of course, but still I try to recover as quickly as possible and play again. In three days I can recover,” Son said.

“It’s the same when I’m playing with Tottenham as well. I have to recover as quick as possible and look forward to play.”

Though Son has refuted claims that he is struggling with fitness, but it is unlikely he will feature for Spurs against Crystal Palace in the FA Cup fourth round on Sunday.

Given Spurs’ injury crisis, however, it seems possible, likely even, that he will start in the Gameweek 24 Premier League fixture against Watford on Wednesday.

Should I bring him back into my FPL squad?

It is certainly worth consideration.

The 26-year-old is owned by just 4 per cent of FPL managers and stands a good chance of scoring big against Watford, Newcastle and Leicester in the next three Gameweeks, especially with Harry Kane and Dele Alli out of the picture.

At £8.6m Son represents good value when you consider that he has managed 67 FPL points in just his last seven appearances for Spurs.
