England‘s World Cup win over Scotland was the UK’s most watched women’s football game of all time, according to the BBC.
The match in Nice attracted a peak of 6.1 million viewers on BBC One – a 37.8 per cent share of the available audience.

Goals from Nikita Parris and Ellen White secured a 2-1 win for the Lionesses, with Claire Emslie’s late effort not enough for Scotland in their Women’s World Cup debut.
Despite the popularity of the match on television, the live attendance at the Allianz Riviera underwhelmed, with just 13,188 filling the 35,000-seater stadium.
England face Argentina in their second Group D match on Friday at 8pm with Scotland playing Japan at 2pm.
