Tyrone Mings has earned a surprise call-up to the England squad for upcoming Euro 2020 qualifiers against Bulgaria and Kosovo.

The centre-back joined Aston Villa on a permanent deal this summer after helping the club achieve promotion from the Championship while on loan from Bournemouth last season.

The 26-year-old is joined by Liverpool midfielder Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, Chelsea youngster Mason Mount and Tottenham’s Harry Winks in the squad captained by Harry Kane.

England kicked off their Euro 2020 campaign with convincing wins over the Czech Republic and Montenegro to top Group A after two matches.

That second game away in Podgorica was overshadowed by the racist chanting aimed at black players Danny Rose and Raheem Sterling as England ran out 5-1 winners.

After the two upcoming matches against Bulgaria at Wembley on Saturday 7 September and Kosovo at St Mary’s on Tuesday 10, England face two more pairs of fixtures in Octbober and November before next summer’s tournament kicks off in June.
