Tottenham transfer news: Ryan Sessegnon ‘expected’ to stay at Fulham

Scott Parker has not given up hope of keeping Ryan Sessegnon at Fulham this season.

The left-back is a £20m target for Tottenham – but boss Parker insists the relegated Cottagers have yet to receive a firm bid for the teenager.

With next Thursday’s transfer deadline looming, the manager is hoping that situation remains unchanged.

‘I expect him to stay’

And Parker insists the 19-year-old – who is recovering from a hamstring injury that has ruled him out of tomorrow’s trip to Barnsley – would have no grounds to feel frustrated with Fulham if he misses out on a swift Premier League return.

The Cottagers boss said: “At this present moment I expect him still to be here.

“Obviously there has been a lot of talk, but I haven’t had one conversation with ownership here to say otherwise, in the sense of another team have approached us.

“And there is now a week to go. So for me, I’m looking at him and thinking let’s get him as fit and hopefully he can help us this year.”

‘Phone not been off the hook’

Asked whether the youngster would be in the right frame of mind if he remained at Craven Cottage, Parker added: “That would be up to Ryan.

“It’s not as though the phone has been off the hook and there has been a bid every other day for Ryan Sessegnon and the club are turning it down for him to have the hump.

“The one good thing about a transfer window is that when 5 o’clock comes next week and the door shuts, you can’t go anywhere.

“As a player you either get your head down or you don’t and it affects you as you go on. But Ryan’s not that boy anyway, I don’t see that as an issue in that sense.

“And plus, at this moment in time, there is nothing to suggest otherwise.”
