Denmark’s Christian Eriksen given CPR after collapsing on the pitch at Euros

Denmark’s Christian Eriksen has been given CPR after collapsing on the pitch during the country’s game against Finland in the Euros 2021.

Referee Anthony Taylor called for medical assistance as soon as the 29-year-old player got into difficulty.

The game has been postponed.

The  Inter Milan midfielder’s fellow Denmark players could be seen in distress as the scenes unfolded.

Pundit Gary Linekar said it was “One of the most distressing scenes I’ve ever seen at a football match,” adding that his players were “clearly distraught”.

He added: ” That’s football really truly put into perspective, the only thing I can remotely remember like that is Fabrice Muamba. He pulled through its hop for his sake christian pulls through as well.

“It’s really difficult to know what to say isn’t it, except let’s hope he is ok.”

Fabrice Muamba survived a cardiac arrest during the first half of an FA Cup quarter-final match between Bolton and Tottenham Hotspur.

Fellow commentator Cesc Fabregas also said it was a “very very sad moment”, adding “I pray for the very best”.
