Where to watch the Euros: The best Euro 2020 big screens and outdoor venues for England, Wales and Scotland

Euro 2020 is finally upon us after a year-long delay, so it is time to get planning where you will be watching each and every European Championship game.

The comfort of home brings with it a guaranteed spot on the sofa or a chance to BBQ come rain or shine, but for those unable to attend a Euros game in person who fancy a matchday experience, there will be several locations across England, Scotland and Wales getting the projectors out for big screenings.

The pandemic has halted plans in some corners of the three home nations – large outdoor gatherings were only given the green light in Wales from 7 June – but a number of venues are promising a fan-park atmosphere with enough food and drink to go around.

In our search for large screenings and outdoor venues, it became clear booking in advance is all-but essential, and here we have collected just a few of the locations showing live Euros matches this summer.

Where to watch Euros

Useful apps and websites

The MatchPint app and website will allow you to search for pubs and bars showing matches across the UK. You can even narrow your search down to beer gardens if you fancy the outdoors while watching a Euros match.

You can also search for your nearest Greene King pub if you want to watch the Euros.

Uefa Fan Zones in Glasgow and London – Info for Glasgow here and London here

As host cities, both Glasgow and London will feature Fan Zones. The one at Glasgow Green will be open every day with up to 6,000 fans able to attend the screenings, with a host of activities, food and drink on offer. According to their website, it will be a “largely seated venue and will be subject to relevant Scottish Government physical distancing requirements”.

The London zone at Trafalgar Square will be open for England matches as well as the semi-finals and final. Tickets are required and will be free via a public ballot, but the first two matches are for key workers only given they fall before 21 June.

Paddy Parks in London and Newcastle – info here

Football fans in London and Newcastle can head to Paddy Power’s “Paddy Parks” for the fan park experience. Based in Flat Iron Square in central London and the Quayside-based Riverside Newcastle, the two venues are free to enter except for England games, but either way tickets should be booked in advance.

Showcase Cinemas nationwide – info here

Fans can seek the safety (weather-wise) of a large screening inside by heading to a Showcase Cinema for free. Booking is required, with cinemas in Glasgow and Paisley showing Scotland matches, Cardiff for Wales games, while England matches will be broadcast in Bristol, Coventry, Dudley, Leeds, Leicester, Liverpool, London, Newham, Nottingham, Peterborough, Reading, Southampton, Teesside. All locations will also show the final.

BrewDog pubs nationwide – info here

BrewDog pubs are turning themselves into fanzones. Booking is required, with pubs in Scotland (Aberdeen, Dundee and Edinburgh) and England (Birmingham, Cambridge, Exeter, Leicester, Liverpool, London, Norwich, Manchester, Reading, Southampton and York) all showing fixtures.

Birmingham

Secret Space – Info here

This warehouse in Digbeth, Birmingham will be screening England’s games. There’s currently a waiting list for the group matches but should they reach the knockouts it will be worth keeping an eye on their Skiddle page for tickets to become available.

Edinburgh

The Three Sisters – Info here

The self-proclaimed “Edinburgh’s favourite sports bar” boasts a 225” screen in an impressive courtyard. They’ll be showing every Euros game, so booking in advance is recommended.

Liverpool

Phase One Liverpool – Info here

All Euro 2020 games will be shown live on a big screen projector as Phase One, with free tickets available via Skiddle or via the venue’s social media pages.

London

Potters Field Park – Info here

On the south side of the River Thames by Tower Bridge, the “Football Village” will be free to attend, and plans to include a host of activities on top of big screens for selected matches and highlights. There will be no England games shown “as it is designed as a space for families and local people to enjoy the London summer, relax, and soak up the festival atmosphere”.

The Clapham Grand – Info here

One of the venues where those 2018 videos went viral (pints everywhere…), The Clapham Grand has almost sold out for England’s group games but you can sign-up their potential knockout games as well. As well as the football, there will be DJs, a themed photo booth and apparently lots of “giveaways”. The location boasts six plasma screens, two more on the balcony, and a mighty 24ft HD cinema screen.

BOXPARK in Croydon, Shoreditch and Wembley – Info here

Out to capitalise on the success of the 2018 World Cup screenings, BOXPARK has three locations across London which will be showing live matches this summer. Booking a table is recommended. For some matches it will be free, but the bigger matches will charge for a table. Given the Wembley venue lies in the shadows of the national stadium, that location is unable to screen games that are taking place just a few hundred yards away. That means no England group games, and maybe beyond.

Manchester

Bowlers Exhibition Centre – Info here

Claiming to be the biggest socially-distanced live screening in Manchester, Bowlers will have a DJ as well to dance away those post-match blues or up the ante if the result is right. Tickets can be bought on Skiddle.

Plymouth

Plymouth Argyle’s Home Park stadium – Info here

Fancy watching England vs Croatia and then Grease on Sunday 13 June? If so, Plymouth’s Home Park could be the location for you, with the stadium showing live screenings for a host of matches as well as some movies this summer. Tickets are on sale for England’s game and a handful of others, while every knockout game will be shown live too.
