Paul Pogba injury: Which Man Utd fixtures the midfielder will miss as he could be out for ‘eight to ten weeks’

Paul Pogba is an early casualty of the international break after sustaining a thigh injury on international duty.

The France midfielder joined up with Didier Deschamps’ squad ahead of Les Bleus’ World Cup qualifiers against Kazakhstan and Finland, but he will now return to Manchester United.

Pogba featured in the 2-2 Champions League draw with Atalanta but has been suspended in the Premier League since being sent off minutes after he was brought off the bench in the 5-0 defeat to Liverpool.

That meant he was ruled out of the 3-0 win over Tottenham and the 2-0 defeat to Manchester City and would have missed the Watford game on 20 November regardless.

However, with RMC Sport suggesting that he will be out of action for eight to 10 weeks, he could also miss the entirety of United’s pivotal Christmas run-in.

If that prognosis is correct, Pogba is doubtful for 13 games in total.

That further setback for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer came shortly after Luke Shaw and Marcus Rashford pulled out of the England squad. The left-back took a blow to the head during the Manchester derby, while Rashford has only recently returned to action after shoulder surgery.

Raphael Varane is also facing an extended spell on the sidelines as he is not expected back before the Arsenal match on 2 December.

Solskjaer is under mounting pressure after another humiliation at home to a major rival, with the brief respite of an emphatic victory over Spurs now a distant memory again.
