Ange Postecoglou will meet Tottenham forward Harry Kane on Wednesday and set out his vision to bring success back to the club.
Kane’s future remains uncertain with only a year left on his current deal and with Bayern Munich hovering.
Bayern boss Thomas Tuchel has reportedly met Kane, but Postecoglou has no interest in thinking about what-ifs and maybes.
The Australian, who will meet Kane for the first time when the England captain returns to training tomorrow, is bullish about keeping the 29-year-old despite receiving no guarantees from Spurs chairman Daniel Levy.
He said: “I haven’t had any assurances and I wouldn’t expect any. What I know right now is that Harry is part of this squad and he’s looking forward to coming back to training and being amongst these players and starting to work together.
“Harry has already entrenched himself in the history of this football club. He’s one of the premier strikers in the world and I want him involved.
“My conversation with him will be about how we can make this club successful and I’ve got no doubts that’s what he wants as well.
“I doubt it’s going to be defined in the manner that people think it’s going to be. What I want is to introduce myself to Harry and give him my vision of the football club and get a sense from him on what he thinks the club needs to do to be successful and walk out on that training pitch and try to make it happen.
“He would be the first to say that we need a strong team and that’s where my focus is – to build a team will reflect the same sort of individual excellence that he’s had.”
Postecoglou is excited to silence his doubters after swapping Scotland’s 12-team top-flight for the challenge of the Premier League.
“I’ve had success but whenever I reflect on any job I’ve had, it’s not the success that I look back on, it’s the build,” he said.
“I know it’s not always going to be smooth. There’s going to be plenty of doubters, not just for me personally but the whole club, and I love working through that, getting out the other side.”
