Manchester United‘s season has declined following Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s official appointment as permanent manager but the side will have a chance to redeem themselves against Huddersfield and Cardiff City in the final two games of the season.
Marcus Rashford has been one of the few players during the recent dip of form to show any semblance of desire, so the fans who watched him walk off the pitch against Chelsea after only 65 minutes due to injury would have been justified into thinking the side’s apathetic attitude would decline further with his departure.
United managed a point against Chelsea as the battle for the top four continued to fizzle out, but Rashford’s injury worried many fans.
How serious is the injury?
The shoulder injury was a knock he had been carrying ahead of the game against Chelsea, which Solskjaer confirmed after the game.
“Rashy’s struggled with his shoulder and he came through an hour, but couldn’t do more,” the United boss said.
However, the knock is not thought to be serious or a threat to the striker’s long term fitness after he trained on Wednesday (1 May).
What’s next for Manchester United?
Rashford is likely to play against Huddersfield and will at least be on the bench at any rate, with Solskjaer having limited options to replace him.
Anthony Martial was criticised for not moving during a warm-up ahead of the Chelsea game and Romelu Lukaku’s mid-season bounce has worn off, leaving Solskjaer dependent on the Englishman.
Mason Greenwood, the young 17-year-old striker who is highly rated by the staff at Old Trafford, could be given a starting place for the last two games as the United boss aims to end the season on a high.
Should you keep Rashford in your FPL team?
Given United’s most recent form it would be surprising if Rashford was in many FPL sides and it would be wise to move to more certain goal scoring options such as Eden Hazard or Sadio Mane.
United’s form could return with a vengeance against their Championship-bound opponents, but don’t bet on it if you are fighting a close battle at the top of your FPL league.
