The game is almost up for the 2019-20 Fantasy Premier League with only two more gameweeks to navigate until we do it all again next season.
If you are looking to surge up the overall rankings or overhaul a competitor in a mini-league, nailing your transfers and captaincy choices is a must at this stage of the campaign.
Depending on your rank, now could be the time to play it safe and target high-owned and high-performing players or roll the dice and bring in a differential or two.
With that in mind, i‘s tips this week have an eclectic feel to them with a popular out of position player, a couple of premium options, a defender just above the five per cent differential threshold and an under-the-radar midfielder in less than one per cent of squads.
Here are i‘s five top picks for GW37+.
James Tarkowski, DEF, Burnley
Aside from a 5-0 thumping by Manchester City, Burnley have been unbeaten since the restart raising the appeal of their in-form players on FPL.
Goalkeeper Nick Pope is far and away Burnley’s most popular FPL asset with over 20 per cent ownership but second in their ranks is James Tarkowski, who Sean Dyche has tipped for an England call-up.
Tarkowski averaged 6.6 points per game from GW31+ until GW35+ and his ability in both boxes make him a standout option for Saturday’s game against Norwich City.

Anthony Martial, MID, Manchester United
Anthony Martial’s ownership has been steadily increasing since the restart and with good reason as the Frenchman has been in the form of his career.
The 24-year-old is an OOP (out of position) player on FPL as he is listed as a midfielder despite playing as Manchester United‘s leading striker which makes him a particularly desirable asset.
Over the past five gameweeks, Martial has delivered five goals, two assists, seven bonus points and three double-digit returns. He is, quite simply, the best value player in the game right now.
Cost: £8.4m Points: 181
Riyad Mahrez, MID, Manchester City
The dreaded Pep roulette was in full swing on Wednesday as Guardiola inexplicably left Manchester City’s three top FPL points scorers – Kevin De Bruyne, Raheem Sterling and Riyad Mahrez – all on the bench.
Twitter hasn’t seen an FPL-related meltdown like it. The silver lining for owners of those players is that their chances of starting in the next game against Watford seem enhanced.
If you can stomach bringing a City player in given Guardiola’s rotation policy, Mahrez looks as good an option as any as he has delivered 164 points this season, 38 of which have come post-restart.
Cost: £8.6m Points: 165
Stuart Armstrong, MID, Southampton
In last week’s tips, i directed you towards Southampton’s free-scoring striker Danny Ings. This time around, we’re tipping up his partner in crime, the under-rated Stuart Armstrong.
The 28-year-old Scot must be one of the most unassuming footballers in the Premier League at the moment, although his profile will have been raised by scoring against Manchester United this week.
That goal at Old Trafford means Armstrong has directly contributed towards five goals (two goals, three assists) in his last six games. Owned by only 0.9 per cent of FPL managers, he is an intriguing differential.
Cost: £5.2m Points: 93
Harry Kane, FWD, Spurs
There have been numerous hot takes since the restart proclaiming the demise of England captain and Tottenham hero Harry Kane.
If Kane’s double against Newcastle United was anything to go by, those who have written him off have done so prematurely. At St James’ Park, the 26-year-old looked as sharp as he has done in months.
Kane finished off both chances that came his way to return a 12-point score. Tottenham’s next opponents are a Caglar Soyuncu-less Leicester City, a club that Kane has scored 14 times against in only nine games.
Cost: £10.9m Points: 136
