Premier League injuries: John Lundstram, Richarlison, Jack O’Connell – players at risk for FPL Gameweek 33+

The deadline for making changes ahead of Fantasy Premier League gameweek 33+ is looming ominously on the horizon.

The virtual transfer window will slam shut, crashing down with earth-shaking force, at 11.30am on Saturday. Any injured or suspended players must be swapped out by then.

Callum Wilson and Fernandinho are currently on the naughty step, the former for accruing 10 yellow cards this season and the latter for his red card against Chelsea. It goes without saying that they should either be transferred or benched.

Meanwhile, there are several players who have question marks hanging over their fitness.

Here are all the latest injury updates ahead of the next FPL deadline.

John Lundstram

Having injured his arm in Sheffield United’s 2-1 defeat to Arsenal in the FA Cup last weekend, Lundstram is waiting on the results of a scan to determine whether he can feature against Tottenham on Thursday evening.

Whether or not he makes an appearance against Spurs will be a decent indicator of his availability to face Burnley on Sunday.

“Looking back at it, it looked like an awkward fall, so I imagine he will be touch and go for Thursday night,” Chris Wilder said earlier this week.

“We are all dependent on the results of the scan.”

FPL players would do well to bench Lundstram ahead of Spurs’ visit to Bramall Lane and see if he makes the squad before deciding whether or not to include him for gameweek 33+.

Richarlison

Despite limping off with an ankle injury during Everton’s 2-1 win against Leicester, Richarlison can be cautiously optimistic about his chances of facing Spurs on Monday night.

Asked about the Brazil forward’s fitness after the Leicester game, Carlo Ancelotti said: “Richarlison had a knock on his ankle and he will recover without a problem, we hope for Monday.”

With 11 goals and three assists in the Premier League this season, Richarlison has been a steady FPL point-scorer.

He netted the opener against Leicester on Wednesday evening, slotting home from inside the box after 10 minutes and setting Everton on their way to a second consecutive victory.

While there might still be a slight risk he’ll miss out on a starting spot, it’s probably worth keeping him in the team.

Jack O’Connell

Another Sheffield United player who is a doubt for Gameweek 33+, Jack O’Connell has struggled with a knee injury since the Premier League restart.

While O’Connell is making steady progress in his recovery, Wilder has said that he will not rush him back into the team.

Pictured back in training this week, O’Connell is unlikely to feature against Spurs on Thursday evening.

“There will definitely not be a chance of us making a high-risk decision,” Wilder said ahead of the Spurs game. “If it is right for us then we will consider it.”

For the moment at least, it looks like FPL players should leave him on the sidelines.
