When is Soccer Aid 2021? Date, England vs World XI teams, TV coverage and how to get tickets

Soccer Aid is returning for its tenth year, with new announcements dropping as we inch closer to the big day.

Former England and Manchester City manager Sven-Göran Eriksson has just been announced as the manager for the England squad in this charity clash.

Other professionals confirmed to play include former England international Gary Neville, Paul Scholes, Fara Williams and England’s all-time top scorer Wayne Rooney for this year’s squad.

Established in 2006 by Robbie Williams in aid of children’s charity Unicef, Soccer Aid sees professional players and celebrities competing in an 11-a-side match between England and a team representing the rest of the world to raise money for this important cause.

When does Soccer Aid 2021 take place?

The tenth Soccer Aid event is set to take place at Manchester City’s Etihad Stadium on Saturday, 4 September with kick-off scheduled for 7.30pm.

While last year’s event occurred behind closed doors due to the coronavirus pandemic, tickets are now available for purchase for this exciting annual event.

Will Soccer Aid 2021 be shown on TV?

Yes. As with previous years, the clash will be televised on ITV.

Who’s in the line-up for 2021 Soccer Aid?

As with previous years, two teams comprised of ex-professionals and celebrities compete as England and World XI or ‘The Rest of the World’.

Who will be managing the 2021 Soccer Aid teams?

Sven-Göran Eriksson has just been confirmed to manage the England side, alongside former England player and football pundit Micah Richards and former England goalkeeper David Seaman.

Elsewhere, Harry Rednapp will once again take his position as manager for the Rest of the World team.

What has Sven-Göran Eriksson said about his appointment?

In a video shared on Twitter, the Swedish manager said: “You can see I’m smiling when I hear I’m going to manage England again.

“I’m looking forward to going back to Manchester, I was very happy there. I am looking forward to come [sic] there and to sit on the bench again in that stadium.”

He said he was looking forward to seeing his old players and “seeing how fit” they are, and working with celebrities.

He added: “The whole idea about what you doing [the fundraising aspect of the tournament], what we’re going to do is great – I mean it’s for the good purpose – and together it will be very, very fun.”

Who will be hosting Soccer Aid 2021?

Dermot O’Leary will once again be on hosting duties, while former England international Alex Scott will be reporting from the touchline throughout the evening.

TV and radio presenter Maya Jama will also be joining the pair as a pundit.

Speaking about her role, Scott said, “Soccer Aid 2021 for Unicef is going to be just brilliant. It’s great to be involved again, and of course co-presenting alongside Dermot is really exciting.

“It’ll be so special to be back in a stadium with fans again, and all for a great cause. Tickets are on sale now – see you in September!”

Tickets are now on sale from the Soccer Aid website.

Adult seats are priced between £20 and £75, while children’s seats run from £10-50.
