West Ham striker Michail Antonio ‘stable’ after car crash

West Ham have confirmed striker Michail Antonio is in a “stable condition” after being involved in a road traffic accident.

The Premier League club said the crash took place on Saturday afternoon in Essex.

“Michail is conscious and communicating and is currently under close supervision at a central London hospital,” West Ham’s statement added.

“At this difficult time, we kindly ask everyone to respect the privacy of Michail and his family. The club will make no further comment this evening, but will issue a further update in due course.”

Antonio, 34, is West Ham’s all-time leading Premier League goalscorer.

The London-born forward, who represents Jamaica at international level, has been with the Hammers since 2015.

He previously played for Nottingham Forest, while he initially came through the ranks at Tooting & Mitcham United.

West Ham are scheduled to play next against Wolves on Monday night.
