Rangers face a must win game in the Europa League on Thursday night as they travel to Rapid Vienna.
Having beaten the Austrians on home turf with a late brace capping an impressive 3-1 comeback, Steven Gerrard’s men were flying high in the early rounds of the group stage. However, taking only one point from the last six available, they have slumped to third in the table. While they can get through with a draw, a win would guarantee qualification to the knockout rounds.

Things are a little more bleak for the Austrians – the news earlier in the week that Rapid Vienna had hired a priest ahead of the Group G fixture with Rangers raised some eyebrows.
It’s understandable to an extent, as new manager Dietmar Kuhbauer has only won two of the 10 games he has presided over. You too might go looking for some divine intervention.

For Rapid Vienna, Tamas Szanto and Paul Gartler remain out with their long term injuries, while recent knocks to striker Andrija Pavlovic and Christopher Dibon mean the likely exclusion for the two first-team players.
For Rangers, Jamie Murphy and Graham Dorrans remain sidelined, while a late injury to Ryan Kent may be sidelined with a fitness issue. As Gerrard said in conference:
“He’s got an issue I think. We’ll have to check it out. We’re hoping it’s just precaution but he felt some discomfort so we had to take him off.”
