Following the most impressive comeback Anfield has ever seen, the only sour note from Liverpool‘s stunning win over Barcelona was Andy Robertson‘s removal at half-time.
The Scottish full-back had a superb opening 45 minutes before being injured in a collision with Luis Suarez.
The injury means Jurgen Klopp’s men could be without one of their most important players for their must-win final Premier League game against Wolves on Sunday.
How serious is the injury?
Liverpool put a statement out on their official website following the victory against Barcelona stating that Robertson will undergo a scan today (Wednesday) to determine how bad his injury is.
The statement also confirmed the issue was the Scot’s calf, with Robertson telling the club’s official website: “It doesn’t feel the best at the minute but I’ll get a scan tomorrow.”
He added: ““They’re confident that it’s just a nerve or whatever and it can be maybe a couple of days, but we’ll wait and see.
“We can’t really comment until I get the scan, but I’ll be saying my prayers tonight.”
What next for Liverpool?
Robertson is a key cog in the Jurgen Klopp machine, and with Liverpool hoping Manchester City slip up on the final day in Brighton, the German’s side still have to beat Wolves to stand a chance of lifting the Premier League trophy.
Georginio Wijnaldum replaced Robertson at Anfield on Tuesday and scored twice off the bench, with James Milner slotting in at left-back.
Should I keep him in my FPL side?
Robertson has the third best Fantasy Premier League points total of any Liverpool player this season behind only Mo Salah and Sadio Mane.
Writing him off because of a knock is not wise unless Klopp confirms closer to Sunday the Scot will definitely miss out.
However, Trent Alexander-Arnold has also had a superb season with 170 points and, at £1.1m cheaper than Robertson, would be an excellent replacement.
