Fantasy Premier League tips: the 5 best players to sign for your team in Gameweek 31+

After three months away, Fantasy Premier League has come back with a bang with managers worldwide racking up big scores in GW30+.

Ahead of the final game of the round – Manchester City vs Burnley at the Etihad – the average haul is 54 points and should Sergio Aguero, Kevin De Bruyne et al do the business on Monday evening, that could rival the previous best week of 65 way back in GW1.

With unlimited transfers to use up in GW30+, many managers took a short-term view by stockpiling their squad with double gameweek players.

From GW31+ onwards, though, a longer-term approach will be required when deciding upon your transfers.

Here are five players to consider for GW31+ and beyond.

Paul Pogba, MID, Man Utd

People are queuing up to board the Bruno Fernandes FPL train and rightly so given his reliability, but if you’re after a differential pick from Manchester United, Paul Pogba is your man.

Injured for much of the campaign, Pogba came on in the second half of United’s clash with Spurs on Friday and single-handedly changed the match, even grabbing an FPL assist by winning a penalty from which Fernandes converted.

As he demonstrated last season with 10 goals and 13 assists, Pogba certainly has FPL pedigree and although he is no longer on spot-kicks he looks an attractive proposition given United’s nice run of fixtures in upcoming weeks.

Matt Doherty, DEF, Wolves

Wolves picked up where they left off pre-lockdown by condemning West Ham to a 2-0 defeat at the London Stadium and once again rampaging right wing-back Matt Doherty was among their star performers.

The Irishman kept a clean sheet, assisted Pedro Neto’s stonking late goal and hoovered up all three bonus points to continue his rich run of FPL form.

Over the past six gameweeks, Doherty has three double-digit hauls and 52 points in total, averaging out at 8.6 per match. He is rapidly becoming a must-have option alongside Trent Alexander-Arnold among defenders.

Nick Pope, GK, Burnley

Despite Sheffield United’s capitulation against Newcastle, Dean Henderson was on course to be the highest-scoring goalkeeper of GW30+ before Monday’s clash at the Etihad, however, he is ineligible to face parent club Manchester United on Wednesday.

If you’re after a replacement look no further than Burnley’s Nick Pope who is tied with Henderson and Alisson for the most clean sheets (11) in the league and is top for bonus points (17) out of all goalkeepers.

Burnley’s next four fixtures are against Watford, Crystal Palace, Sheffield United and West Ham before GW35+ when they face a Liverpool side who will likely have already been crowned champions.

Danny Ings, ATT, Southampton

Danny Ings was the most sold player of GW30+ with 522,825 managers parting ways with the Southampton forward. Typically, he punished those hasty sellers by scoring a goal, providing an assist and helping himself to all three bonus points for a total score of 11 during Friday’s 3-0 win over Norwich.

Many will be scrambling to get him back in as a result and with good reason considering his next opponents are a defensively depleted Arsenal at St Mary’s. Bernd Leno, Pablo Mari, Sokratis Papastathopolous, David Luiz and Calum Chambers are all unavailable for Mikel Arteta ahead of Thursday’s game.

Dominic Calvert-Lewin, ATT, Everton

Sunday’s Merseyside derby was by no means a classic, but Everton will take encouragement from their display, particularly during the latter stages when it looked as though they might nick it.

Dominic Calvert-Lewin has already enjoyed the most prolific season of his career with 13 Premier League goals to his name and he almost added a 14th when his cute backheel destined for the far corner was brilliantly clawed away by Alisson.

Next up for the Toffees is a trip to East Anglia and Calvert-Lewin will be licking his lips at the prospect of facing a Norwich defence which struggled badly against Southampton in their previous outing.
