The Premier League‘s relentless grind has been even further intensified by the need to complete the season this summer, leaving us with few football-free days.
The pubs are still shut though and lockdown has eased but remains so most fans are happy to have their evenings dominated by a constant extravaganza of football.
What is at stake?
The Premier League title race technically remains open as Liverpool dropped points against Everton on Sunday night, meaning they cannot wrap up their first league win in 30 years until July.
Nevertheless, they will be keen to score their first goal in three months and get back to winning ways at Anfield on Wednesday.
There is an almighty tussle going on further down the table for the last Champions League spot too.
With Manchester City’s ban (appeal pending) meaning that fifth place will gain entry to the Promised Land of European football.
The winner at Old Trafford when Uniteds Manchester and Sheffield meet will take ownership of that spot – but Wolves are right in the hunt too and face Bournemouth, who appear to be there for the taking.
There should be plenty of entertainment at Stamford Bridge on Thursday too when City, who have scored eight and conceded none since the restart, take on Chelsea.
