Wilfried Zaha will be a transfer target this summer, concedes Crystal Palace manager Roy Hodgson

Roy Hodgson expects Wilfried Zaha could still be the subject big money offers during the summer transfer window despite the financial challenges facing clubs following the Covid-19 shutdown.

Zaha’s Crystal Palace future was thrown into doubt before the start of this season when he submitted a transfer request in an effort to secure a move away from Selhurst Park.

However, the winger, whose current contract runs until 2023, stayed put after Palace rejected approaches from Arsenal and Everton.

Hodgson insists Zaha is fully committed to the club but believes the player will again be in demand.

“It’s an unknown isn’t it, how much money is going to be floating around in the next window,” said the manager.

“I think we’d be very foolish to relax and start thinking there will be no bids for Wilf Zaha, no big-money interest in him, because he’s such a good player.

“He has the ability to play at any level, anywhere in the world, so who knows?

“If we find it easy to keep him because there aren’t big bids coming in, that would be fine.

“But I certainly wouldn’t count on that because if I was at another club I’d be looking to sign players of his quality.”
