Sheffield’s Lord Mayor Magid Magid, along with comedian and actor Rufus Hound, have decided to brighten up the days of Sheffield businesses smarting from England’s loss to Croatia in the World Cup semi-final.
“We know many of you will be feeling disappointed and down about yesterday’s [football] result, so me & Rufus Hound are giving you guys the opportunity for us to come to your place of work to cheer you up with some treats!” tweeted Mr Magid. “Just tweet us your address and we’ll rock up!”

A different kind of Lord Mayor
Magid Magid rose to acclaim after his election in May, when his mayoral portrait featured him in Doc Martens alongside his ceremonial chains.
He is the first ever Green party representative in the role, and has vowed to tackle right-wing politics, racism and homophobia among other issues.
He recently made headlines after saying President Donald Trump would not be welcome in the steel city during his UK visit, adding that Mr Trump was a “wasteman”.
