England squad to face Spain and Switzerland – in full

Gareth Southgate has named his first squad since leading England to the World Cup semi-finals for the matches against Spain and Switzerland.

Southgate has stuck with the majority of the players who performed so well in Russia.

Jamie Vardy and Gary Cahill are not among those selected after both effectively retired from international duty on Tuesday, barring an injury crisis in their respective positions. Vardy, who will be 33 by the time the 2020 European Championships takes place, stated that he wishes to focus on his club career with Leicester City.

Here’s the England squad in full:

Trent Alexander-Arnold (Liverpool), Jack Butland (Stoke City), Dele (Tottenham Hotspur), Fabian Delph (Manchester City), Eric Dier (Tottenham Hotspur), Joe Gomez (Liverpool), Jordan Henderson (Liverpool), Harry Kane (Tottenham Hotspur), Adam Lallana (Liverpool), Jesse Lingard (Manchester United), Ruben Loftus-Cheek (Chelsea), Harry Maguire (Leicester City), Alex McCarthy (Southampton), Jordan Pickford (Everton), Marcus Rashford (Manchester United), Danny Rose (Tottenham Hotspur), Luke Shaw (Manchester United), Raheem Sterling (Manchester City), John Stones (Manchester City), James Tarkowski (Burnley), Kieran Trippier (Tottenham Hotspur), Kyle Walker (Manchester City), Danny Welbeck (Arsenal).

England are ranked sixth in the World after the World Cup and they face Spain in their first Uefa Nations League fixture at Wembley on Saturday, September 8 before facing Switzerland a few days later in a friendly at Leicester City’s King Power Stadium.
