Fantasy Premier League tips: The 11 best players to sign for your FPL team in Gameweek 11

It’s time to cancel the Halaand party, evidently. After a points return of only six last week and a midweek Champions League rest due to what Pep Guardiola described as extreme fatigue, there’s no way he could return big against Liverpool in GW11. Is there?

With 15 goals in nine games and over 80 per cent ownership, it’s safe to say that against a Reds side conceding 1.5 goals per game he remains an auto-pick captain after a week with his feet up.

Those bold enough to captain his teammate Joao Cancelo in GW10 profited nicely with an 18-point haul. The burgeoning form of Bukayo Saka and Bruno Guimaraes also continued, with both now forcing their way into the discussion of midfield selections.

Transfers this week come with the caveats that Liverpool and Manchester City play each other, and that City and Arsenal both have blanks in GW12, which is something to be mindful of if stocking up on players from the top two teams in the table.

  • Young (Aston Villa) – 11
  • Koulibaly (Chelsea), Romero (Tottenham) – 8

  • Martinelli (Arsenal), Mount (Chelsea) – 12

Forwards

  • Ronaldo (Man Utd), Scamacca (West Ham) – 9
  • Solanke (Bournemouth), Édouard (Palace), Dennis (Forest), Antonio (West Ham) – 8

Here are i‘s picks for Gameweek 11, leaning more towards players from Chelsea, Spurs, West Ham and Fulham.

Gameweek 11 fixtures

Friday 14 October

  • Brentford vs Brighton

Saturday 15 October

  • Leicester vs Crystal Palace
  • Fulham vs Bournemouth
  • Wolves vs Nottingham Forest
  • Spurs vs Everton

Sunday 16 October

  • Aston Villa vs Chelsea
  • Leeds vs Arsenal
  • Manchester United vs Newcastle
  • Southampton vs West Ham
  • Liverpool vs Manchester City

Jose Sa (Wolverhampton Wanderers)

Sa is an excellent shot-stopper with a run of favourable fixtures coming up, and there is not a whole lot more to it than that. Nottingham Forest at home before Palace (away), an out-of-sorts Leicester (home), Brentford (away) and reconfiguring Brighton (home) mean that if you’re in the market for a goalkeeper, Sa is the current standout.

Hugo Lloris and Nick Pope are also in strong form, but their fixtures are a little bit spikier and they cost a little bit more money to boot.

Price: £5.0m Points: 41 Gameweek 11 fixture: Nottingham Forest (h)

Matt Doherty (Tottenham Hotspur)

Reece James’ injury complicates GW11 and GW12 somewhat, as many were likely to consider the Chelsea man their go-to amid the awkward fixture list. However, help is at hand from Spurs. With Emerson Royal continuing his three-match ban, Doherty is very likely to take up the right wing-back position for the next two gameweeks.

Owned by less than 1 per cent of managers, compared to over 20 per cent for teammate Perisic, he is a differential waiting to happen at home to an Everton side scoring less than a goal a game, and then for an awkward GW12 against a Manchester United side scoring 1.6 goals per game and conceding 1.9 this season.

Price: £4.6m Points: 8 Gameweek 11 fixture: Everton (h)

Kieran Trippier (Newcastle United)

Manchester United have conceded the third-most fouls per game this season (12.1), with 24 bookings. Looking a little blunt going forward and conceding fairly freely, the odds on set-piece specialist Kieran Trippier delivering a goal from just outside the area is fairly decent. Especially if free-kick magnet Scott McTominay starts.

Newcastle are flying at the moment and with Trippier at the heart of that resurgence a big goal in a big game seems fitting.

Price: £5.6m Points: 49 Gameweek 11 fixture: Manchester United (a)

Ben White (Arsenal)

White is really starting to settle at right-back for Arsenal, now contributing the most expected assists per game of Mikel Arteta’s back four, which is good news coming into a weekend against an inconsistent Leeds side.

Jesse Marsch’s men actually concede less than you might think (12 goals in eight games), but Arsenal are also scoring freely and with Saka and Martinelli both in excellent form the odds of White supplying a cutback or cross seems quite good for his price point and owned percentage (5.8 per cent).

Price: £4.5m Points: 35 Gameweek 11 fixture: Leeds (a)

More from Football

Nelson Semedo (Wolves)

Wolves have not been very good at much this season, but their clean sheets return has been fairly decent. With Nottingham Forest visiting Molineux, another one could be in the offing.

Semedo is currently preferred at right-back and he is also prone to get forward and deliver a cross or two, making the Portuguese a decent shout this week with only 0.3 per cent ownership. Teammates Jonny and Max Kilman are also decent differential options.

Price: £5.0m Points: 41 Gameweek 11 fixture: Nottingham Forest (h)

Wilfried Zaha (Crystal Palace)

The Palace talisman has been in good, if not blinding, form and if there were any team you would back him to return to completely free-scoring fettle against, it is probably Brendan Rodgers’ beleaguered Leicester City.

The Foxes have conceded 2.7 goals per game this season, more than any other team in the league. With Zaha playing as an attacker despite his midfielder classification in FPL, and as the Eagles’ most dangerous forward, his selection is a bit of a no-brainer this gameweek.

Price: £7.4m Points: 38 Gameweek 11 fixture: Leicester City (a)

Jarrod Bowen (West Ham)

Two goals in two league games will give the Hammers’ wide forward confidence, even if the strike against Fulham was from the penalty spot. He will fancy his chances of confirming his return to form against a stagnant Southampton side flirting with the prospect of relegation.

Bowen has always been a bit of a streaky player, and at only around 5 per cent ownership he represents good value for a potential differential.

Price: £8.2m Points: 36 Gameweek 11 fixture: Southampton (a)

Phil Foden (Manchester City)

Thirty-eight points in the last three gameweeks is nothing to be sniffed at, and if Manchester City are to prevail at Anfield (and the bookies currently strongly suspect they will) then the goals are likely to come from either Foden or Haaland.

One thing to be wary of: he is very much outperforming his xG and xA at the moment, which speaks to his excellent finishing and passing ability, but a slight regression is probably due.

Price: £8.2m Points: 62 Gameweek 11 fixture: Liverpool (a)

Leandro Trossard (Brighton)

Simply in too fine form to ignore after his hat-trick against Liverpool. He may have blanked against Spurs, but Brentford are much less defensively solid, conceding 1.9 goals per game this season compared to the 1.1 of Conte’s lot.

His fixtures for the next few weeks aren’t too bad either, if you need to trade out an Arsenal or City midfielder for GW12, as Nottingham Forest beckons.

Price: £6.8m Points: 54 Gameweek 11 fixture: Brentford (a)

Harry Kane (Tottenham Hotspur)

Kane has scored a goal in each of his last four league matches, and appears to have found his terminator-esque rhythm once again this season to be the main propulsion behind Spurs’ fairly strong start to the campaign. There is no reason to suspect that he won’t score once again as Frank Lampard’s Everton come to town.

If you can afford Kane, he might be worth considering for the GW12 problem to navigate with a fixture against a leaky Manchester United – especially if you can get to him from Gabriel Jesus.

Price: £11.4m Points: 63 Gameweek 11 fixture: Everton (h)

Erling Haaland (Manchester City)

Erling Haaland? Groundbreaking. The Norwegian goal-monster is simply game-breaking at the minute and has to be backed in any scenario.

With Liverpool looking more frail than usual and without some of their best players due to injuries, Haaland can’t be left out and should probably be your captain once again.

Price: £12.2m Points: 102 Gameweek 11 fixture: Liverpool (a)
