‘Steven Gerrard, get out of our club’: Aston Villa fans make feelings clear after dismal Fulham defeat

Aston Villa’s travelling support called for Steven Gerrard to leave the club after witnessing their team slump to a desperate 3-0 defeat to Fulham at Craven Cottage.

Harrison Reed opened the scoring for the hosts in the first half and things went from bad to worse for the Villans in the second with Douglas Luiz sent off and Tyrone Mings scoring an own goal either side of an Aleksandar Mitrovic penalty.

The result extended Villa’s winless run to four matches and leaves them 17th in the Premier League table with nine points from their opening 11 fixtures.

Gerrard has come under increasing pressure from the Villa faithful due to poor performances as well as results and looks to be on borrowed time judging by Thursday night’s events.

Villa’s supporters chanted “Steven Gerrard, get out of our club” and “you’re getting sacked in the morning” as things unravelled in farcical fashion in west London.

Villa had a man sent off, conceded a penalty and scored an own goal in the same match for the first time ever in the Premier League.

Gerrard, who left Rangers to join Villa last November as Dean Smith’s replacement, looked glum after the final whistle and faces a fight to hang onto his job before Sunday’s crunch clash against struggling Leeds.
