Uefa has warned fans they will have coins confiscated on entry to the Ataturk Olympic Stadium for the Champions League final, i can reveal.
Supporters of Manchester City and Inter Milan have been told to ensure they do not take coins to the stadium or they will be removed.
Proceeds of money taken from fans will be donated to those who have been affected by the devastating earthquakes in Turkey and Syria.
Uefa has also warned supporters who have flown to Istanbul without tickets not to travel to the stadium. The governing body has insisted that they will have no access to the stadium or any of the entertainment around it and made clear there will be nowhere to watch the game.
In guidance issued to fans by Uefa it states: “Before travelling to Istanbul, ticket holders should pay close attention to the stadium information provided by Uefa, as rules for Ataturk Olympic Stadium may differ from what supporters are used to at home. Local regulations do not permit coins of any currency to be brought inside the stadium. Any coins removed prior to entry to the final will be donated to the Earthquake Fund in support of those affected by the earthquakes in Turkey and Syria.”
West Ham‘s historic victory against Fiorentina in the Europa Conference League final was marred by the Italian club’s captain being struck by an object thrown from the stands.
Defender Cristiano Biraghi was left with a deep cut and blood dripping down his neck after being hit by an object while preparing to take a corner.
West Ham said in a statement: “West Ham United unreservedly condemn the behaviour of a small number of individuals who threw objects onto the pitch during tonight’s Uefa Europa Conference League final.
“These actions have no place in football, and do not in any way represent the values of our football club and the overwhelming majority of our supporters, who have behaved impeccably in Prague this week and throughout our last two seasons in European competition.
“We will work with the police and other stakeholders to review the incidents and act against anyone found guilty of an offence. In line with our zero-tolerance approach, anyone identified will have their details passed to the police and will be given an indefinite ban and therefore be unable to enter London Stadium and travel with the club. There is no place for this kind of behaviour at West Ham United.”
