Championship duo Stoke and Watford are leading the chase to sign Bournemouth striker Daniel Jebbison, who is nearing a loan exit.
The 21-year-old forward was signed by Bournemouth from Sheffield United in the summer but i understands the club are now in the process of sanctioning a loan exit before next week’s transfer deadline.
That decision had been delayed after the £65m sale of Dominic Solanke to Spurs and Jebbison made his Premier League debut in Bournemouth’s 1-1 weekend draw at Nottingham Forest after impressing in pre-season.
But the club are in the process of finalising his loan, with Championship newcomers Portsmouth also having made an offer.
But it appears the decision is now to be between Watford – who have made a strong start to the season – and Stoke City, who have been in the market for a forward all summer.
Bournemouth have fielded enquiries from a clutch of Championship clubs for the England under-20 forward, who was a £1.5m arrival after his contract at Bramall Lane expired last month.
High-flying Sunderland held an interest in the striker but are now understood to be looking elsewhere as they remain keen on Caen forward Alexandre Mendy.
The Black Cats are pressing for a resolution on that signing but had expressed interest in Jebbison earlier in the month.
Jebbison is viewed as a strong prospect for the future at Bournemouth but the club’s impressive summer business has seen them sign Brazil forward Evanilson from Porto for £31m with £10m in potential add-ons.
That means Jebbison likely needs regular first team football, which is why a Championship loan is viewed as the best option.
The 20-year-old is likely to be part of the squad as Bournemouth host Newcastle on Saturday before completing a loan next week.
The Cherries play in the Carabao Cup at West Ham in midweek before next Friday’s transfer deadline, and there is the possibility of further additions to Andoni Iraola’s squad.
