‘Absolute disgrace’: West Ham fans storm out in disgust as Arsenal score six

West Ham fans stormed out of the London Stadium in their droves after rampant Arsenal scored six unanswered goals to pile the pressure on David Moyes.

The Hammers came into the game in a respectable eighth place but supporters have grown increasingly frustrated at manager Moyes’ pragmatic football this season.

The mood then turned sour on Sunday as William Saliba, Bukayo Saka, Gabriel Magalhaes and Leandro Trossard all scored in the space of 15 first-half minutes.

Sky Sports camera showed fans streaming out towards the nearby Stratford train station after Trossard slotted home the fourth, while loud boos rang out as the half-time whistle sounded.

“My word, you don’t often see that,” the former Arsenal forward Alan Smith said on commentary. “They are in their tens of thousands going. It’s an incredible sight. David Moyes won’t have witnessed many halves like that in his long managerial career.”

Former Manchester United midfielder Roy Keane piled on the scorn at half-time. “West Ham were shocking,” Keane said in the Sky studio. “I can’t believe what I’m watching. The way they’re getting beaten physically, set pieces. West Ham, the last 10 or 15 minutes, have been an absolute disgrace.

“They’ve not been physical, they’re not tackling. Nobody has laid a glove on [Martin] Odegaard.

“They look sluggish, no one running back, no desire, no hunger. David Moyes must be fuming at half-time. But all credit to Arsenal: they’ve turned up, they’ve flexed their muscles. They look sharp, they look at it. West Ham… a disgrace.”

Saka added a fifth in front of banks of empty seats in the 63rd minute before former Hammers midfielder Declan Rice rubbed salt into the wounds with a sixth goal that pundit Paul Merson described as a “worldie”.
