Ticket issues at Wembley leave Liverpool fans facing Carabao Cup final queues

Hundreds of Liverpool fans experienced long delays getting into the Carabao Cup final at Wembley after issues with digital tickets.

While Chelsea provided fans with paper tickets, Liverpool supporters were asked to show a QR code. i understands a power small outage at the turnstile led to long queues, with many of those experiencing problems were then directed to the main ticket office to print tickets.

i has been told it was the decision of the club to use electronic tickets.

Around an hour before kick-off, Liverpool issued the following advice on their X account: “If your ticket is showing a barcode, please remove from the wallet and re download from the original email.

“The ticket should then show a QR code which will allow entry into the turnstile.”

Kick-off had been moved to 3pm – rather than the traditional 4.30pm – at the request of the Metropolitan Police.

Liverpool fans also faced chaotic scenes in Paris at the 2022 Champions League final.

It is not the first time there have been ticketing issues at Wembley, with some Manchester City and Manchester United fans missing kick-off at last year’s FA Cup final.

The Euro 2020 final was also marred by crowd disorder, including England fans storming the ground with fake tickets.
