The nation of Sweden has conceded graciously to its World Cup quarter-final defeat to England, showing honourable stoicism in the face of a disappointing performance.
The Swedish side exited the competition after two goals from English defender Harry Maguire and midfielder Dele Alli, securing England a semi-final clash with Croatia on Wednesday.
Sweden’s official Twitter account conceded it was “a deserved victory, can’t deny it.” The nation would turn to the films of famously gloomy Swedish filmmaker Ingmar Bergman to cheer it up, it joked.
Congrats, England! It was a deserved victory, can't deny it. Well played! #WorldCup2018
