Kevin De Bruyne injury: Will Man City star be fit to face Manchester United?

Manchester City‘s hopes of a domestic treble took a blow on Saturday as Kevin De Bruyne limped off in the first-half against Tottenham.

The midfielder has been in scintillating form of late, notching a hat-trick of assists even as City lost to Spurs in midweek, and was beginning to look a shoo-in for Pep Guardiola’s starting XI for the final weeks of the season as his side look to add the FA Cup and Premier League trophies to the Carabao Cup.

But De Bruyne’s part in the rest of the season, which has already been so badly plagued with injuries, has been thrown into doubt.

How bad is the injury?

De Bruyne was forced off around the half-hour mark after appearing to jar his left knee or ankle when shooting from the edge of the box.

While the incident looked innocuous enough, the number of injuries De Bruyne has suffered in that region in recent months will be cause for concern.

City face cross-town rivals Manchester United on Wednesday night before travelling to Burnley next weekend.

It is currently unclear if De Bruyne will be fit to return for either, although judging by his facial expressions on the Etihad turf it seems doubtful he will be in contention to start against United.
