Lucas Digne injury: Will Everton defender be fit to face Crystal Palace?

Everton’s rich vein of form (their curious loss against Fulham excluded) since the beginning of March has seen them side win five out of eight.

However, their most convincing victory of the spell against Manchester United at the weekend also saw concerning injuries to two key players in Marco Silva’s side.

Richarlison was taken off after only 51 minutes to be replaced by Theo Walcott, with the Brazilian looking likely to miss a handful of games and potentially the rest of the season.

Lucas Digne was also substituted in the dying moments of the match with a worrying looking knock.

How serious is Digne’s injury?

Everton’s manager has played down the seriousness of the Frenchman’s injury, saying that it is nothing too concerning.

The noises coming from Goodison Park suggest the worst outcome would be for Digne to miss out against Crystal Palace but with nearly a full week before the trip to Selhurst Park that seems unlikely.

Silva said: “Digne got a knock but we don’t think it is too worrying.”

What next for Everton?

The injury to Richarlison is being viewed as a much more serious hit to the side’s chances against Palace at the weekend.

Silva described the Brazilian’s injury as “painful” but said tests had yet taken place to fully understand the full extent of the problem.

Digne is unlikely to miss out, with a spot on the subs bench most likely unless his injury complicates further.

Should I keep him in my FPL team?

Selling Digne at this stage would likely be jumping the gun ahead of a further update from Marco Silva.

Both the Frenchman and Richarlison are listed as 75 per cent likely to play in the next match, but the latter’s injury is being reported as much more serious than Digne’s.

Stick with them both for now, pending further updates from the Toffees.
