Everton’s Premier League relegation six-pointer against Newcastle at Goodison Park was delayed for eight minutes after stewards had to enter the pitch to remove a fan who had attached himself to a goal post.
The supporter, who attached himself to the post using a cable around his neck, had a message on the front and back of his t-shirt that read “Just Stop Oil” along with a link to a website.
Numerous members of Everton’s backroom staff were required to deal with the situation, including one who carried an industrious looking pair of bolt cutters with him to cut the man free.
Another supporter clambered over the advertising hoardings and attempted to remonstrate with the other fan before being led away by stewards.
