The FA Cup fifth round continues on Wednesday evening, with five more fixtures to be played before the quarter-final line-up is confirmed.
Middlesbrough produced the standout result of Tuesday night’s action when 19-year-old Josh Coburn scored in the 108th minute to inflict more misery on Spurs and Antonio Conte.
Elsewhere, Manchester City saw off Peterborough thanks to goals from Riyad Mahrez and Jack Grealish, and Crystal Palace overcame Stoke courtesy of a late Jairo Riedewald winner.
The quarter-final draw takes place on Thursday evening with England manager Gareth Southgate charged with drawing out the ties.
Ten teams are yet to secure their place in next round and with Wembley looming and £180,000 at stake for progression at this stage, the remaining fixtures are sure to produce further shocks and memorable FA Cup moments.
Luton Town v Chelsea
- Date: Wednesday 2 March
- Kick-Off: 7.15pm
- Channel: BBC One
The previous meeting between these sides was Frank Lampard’s final game as Chelsea head coach, as a Tammy Abraham hat-trick helped the Blues to a 3-1 victory.
Thomas Tuchel then guided Chelsea to the final before they were eventually defeated by Leicester, and hopes of a first domestic cup for the German rest on this competition after Sunday’s Carabao Cup final defeat against Liverpool.
Luton have made a surge towards the Championship playoffs in recent weeks, winning five of their last six league games.
But this is their first test against Premier League opposition since defeat at the hands of Lampard’s Chelsea. Nathan Jones’ team beat Harrogate Town and Cambridge United to reach this stage.
Top scorer Elijah Adebayo will be particularly keen to make a mark, the 24-year-old spent 12 years at Chelsea’s neighbours Fulham before leaving in 2019.
Southampton v West Ham
- Date: Wednesday 2 March
- Kick-Off: 7.30pm
- Channel: BBC Red Button
Last year’s beaten semi-finalists Southampton are one of the form teams in the Premier League, undefeated in their last five outings.
Ralph Hasenhuttl’s Saints were just six points off relegation when these two met in the league on Boxing Day, but a 3-2 win at the London Stadium sparked an upturn in form which has seen the Saints lose just once since.
That was the Hammers first defeat to Southampton in eight occasions, and David Moyes may feel that avenging that loss is not top of his agenda for the next week.
West Hams travel to Liverpool on Saturday in the midst of a top four race, and then jet to Seville for the first leg of their Europa League last-16 tie next week.
Liverpool v Norwich
- Date: Wednesday 2 March
- Kick-Off: 8.15pm
- Channel: ITV
As often seems to be the case an FA cup fixture between two Premier League sides takes place close to their league encounter.
Liverpool came from behind to beat the Canaries 3-1 at Anfield last month on the day their title hopes reignited when Manchester City later slipped up against Spurs.
The Reds are still on for an unprecedented quadruple after claiming their League Cup final success.
It’s an ominous task for visitors Norwich, who have never won this competition and not earned a victory at Anfield since April 1994.
Everton v Boreham Wood
- Date: Thursday 3 March
- Kick-Off: 8.15pm
- Channel: ITV
Boreham Wood are the lowest-ranked team left in the competition, but produced one of the shocks of the fourth round by beating Championship high-flyers Bournemouth.
The feel-good factor at Meadow Park is rife, with the club also fighting for promotion to the Football League for the first time in their history.
Just one player in their squad boasts any Premier League experience. Nomadic striker Nile Ranger made 26 top flight appearances for Newcastle under Chris Hughton and Alan Pardew.
For Everton, this competition provides a timely form of escapism with their worrying league form dragging them ever closer to the drop.
Head coach Frank Lampard could hand Dele Alli a first Everton start.
Nottingham Forest v Huddersfield Town
- Date: Monday 7 March
- Kick-Off: 7.30pm
- Channel: ITV4
The only all-Championship affair fields two sides vying for promotion to the top flight.
Forest’s run to this stage has seen them overcome the two previous winners of the competition, Arsenal and Leicester City.
They have home advantage for a third-successive round, but did lose to the Terriers at the City Ground in December, who are gunning for their first quarter-final in 50 years.
Both teams are in Championship action on Friday night and how quickly they can recover from their league commitments could determine the outcome of this one.
