Thiago injury: Will Liverpool midfielder be fit for Champions League final? Here’s what we know so far

Thiago Alcantara limped off with an injury to his right hamstring just before half-time in Liverpool‘s crucial final game of the Premier League season at home to Wolves.

The Spaniard was as crucial as ever in the centre of the park for Jurgen Klopp’s side, assisting Sadio Mane’s 24th minute equaliser with a sublime backheel flick that split the Wolves defence.

But he pulled up in the closing moments of the first half and headed straight down the tunnel after receiving treatment off the pitch, with James Milner coming on in his place for the second half.

Thiago’s fitness is now in doubt ahead of Liverpool’s Champions League final against Real Madrid next Saturday.

More from Football

It could be the second major final he misses in just three months, having been left in tears in February when he had to pull out of the League Cup final against Chelsea because of a hamstring injury sustained in the warm-up.

How long he is expected to be out for is as yet unclear.

Liverpool need to beat Wolves and hope Aston Villa defeat Manchester City to claim the Premier League title and keep their quadruple hopes alive.
