Fantasy Premier League tips: The best 11 players to sign for your FPL team in Gameweek 15

And just like that, another Fantasy Premier League gameweek is upon us.

Those bemoaning the tight turnaround from one transfer deadline to the next had better get used to it as there is a deluge of games to come over the next month. Forget mince pies and Mariah Carey, Premier League football is the true spirit of Christmas.

From Saturday until New Year’s Day, there will be seven rounds of fixtures for managers to navigate, so make sure you have some time reserved to tinker with your team amongst all the festivities. That Boxing Day Baileys on the rocks will taste all the more sweeter if the FPL points are rolling in at the same time.

Readers of i‘s Fantasy Football newsletter will be all too aware that we went against our own advice by captaining someone other than the world’s seventh-best player Mo Salah in Gameweek 14 and it almost turned out disastrously until our pick Diogo Jota popped up with a late wonder-goal against Everton to minimise the damage. Differential picks Jose Sa, James Maddison and Teemu Pukki, all delivered healthy scores, meanwhile.

Gameweek 15 begins with a derby at the London Stadium as West Ham host league leaders Chelsea on Saturday lunchtime and ends with Everton vs Arsenal on Monday night. Elsewhere, Ralf Rangnick could take charge of his first Manchester United game at Old Trafford on Saturday with Crystal Palace the visitors, while Manchester City are in action against Watford at Vicarage Road in a fixture they have enjoyed of late.

Here is the team for Gameweek 15 which costs £82.7m, £0.3m less than the weekly budget.

Aaron Ramsdale (Arsenal)

A strong start to a Premier League season followed by a morale-sapping slump: Everton fans must be forgiven for thinking it’s groundhog day. The Toffees have failed to win any of their last eight Premier League matches, losing six of them, which has piled the pressure on Rafa Benitez. With the defence in a shambolic state, Dominic Calvert- Lewin still unavailable and Richarlison struggling for form, Arsenal and Aaron Ramsdale will hope to add three points and another clean sheet to their tallies at Goodison.

Joao Cancelo (Man City)

Look away now, Watford fans… The Hornets have been beaten in all 13 of their matches against Manchester City since their takeover in 2008, including by scores of 8-0, 6-0 and 4-0 in the previous three meetings. City rank second for expected goals away from home (behind Liverpool) and are top for expected goals against which bodes well for Joao Cancelo’s owners this weekend. Despite a mini-slump, Cancelo is still the third-highest scoring player in FPL this season.

Price: £6.7m Points: 82 Gameweek 15 fixture: Watford (a)

Emerson Royal (Tottenham)

Sergio Reguilon appears to be the Tottenham wing-back of choice among FPL managers, but Emerson Royal on the opposite flank could prove to be a good differential against Norwich. While Reguilon will face the in-form Max Aarons on his side, Royal is likely to be up against Manchester United loanee Brandon Williams or Dimitris Giannoulis, both of whom have struggled.

Marcos Alonso (Chelsea)

Although Marcos Alonso seems to split opinion amongst Chelsea’s fanbase, there is no denying his track record as an FPL asset. Alonso was the second-highest scoring defender in 2016-17 and has scored 22 goals and provided 22 assists apiece throughout his Premier League career with Bolton, Sunderland and Chelsea. Returns haven’t yet been forthcoming since he filled in for Ben Chilwell in Gameweek 13, but Alonso did play an important part in both of Chelsea’s goals against Watford.

Price: £5.7m Points: 42 Gameweek 15 fixture: West Ham (a)

Tariq Lamptey (Brighton)

What do they put in the water at Cobham? In the space of a couple of years, Chelsea had Reece James, Tariq Lamptey and Tino Livramento hurtling through their academy. The trio are now among the best young right-backs in the Premier League. Lamptey spent nine months out injured with a recurring hamstring problem, but he has quickly made an impact on Brighton’s team upon his return. He came off the bench to assist Neal Maupay in a 1-1 draw with West Ham in midweek and has 16 points in his last three matches.

Price: £4.4m Points: 22 Gameweek 15 fixture: Southampton (a)

Mo Salah (Liverpool)

Let’s just save everybody’s time with this one. Most goals. Most assists. Most FPL points. See you all again next week.

Bernardo Silva (Man City)

As alluded to further up, you’re probably going to want to have at least one Manchester City midfielder or attacker for their game against Watford. Along with Newcastle, Watford are the only Premier League team yet to keep a clean sheet this season and have the third-worst defensive record in the division which points to another high-scoring win for the Citizens on Saturday. Bernardo Silva’s gorgeous cushioned volley proved to be the winner at Villa Park and it took him to second in City’s top-scoring FPL charts behind Cancelo.

Price: 7.3m Points: 69 Gameweek 15 fixture: Watford (a)

Diogo Jota (Liverpool)

When FPL provide you a gift this good, it would be foolish to pass it up. Jota is cheap, plays as a centre forward for the top-scoring team in the division and is in excellent form. Since stepping in for the injured Roberto Firmino in Gameweek 11, Jota has rivalled his esteemed colleague Mo Salah in every key metric: he has scored more goals (four to three), had more big chances (six to five) and has an almost identical expected goals tally (3.30 to 3.36). The Portuguese ticks every box ahead of his Molineux reunion.

Price: £7.9m Points: 68 Gameweek 15 fixture: Wolves (a)

Raphinha (Leeds)

Despite not registering a single double-digit return in FPL this season, Raphinha still features in the top-eight highest-scoring midfielders in the game which is a testament to his consistency. The Brazilian’s six league goals have come in six different games, including the injury-time winner against Crystal Palace from the penalty spot on Tuesday. As well as featuring fourth among all players in the league for shots (with 38), Raphinha also ranks 10th for chances created (23).

Jadon Sancho (Man Utd)

After a difficult start, Jadon Sancho is starting to find his feet at Manchester United. Sancho looks tailor-made for Ralf Rangnick’s fast and furious style of play and United’s new interim manager made no secret of his admiration for the 21-year-old during his time as RB Leipzig’s sporting director. “We were scouting him for four years at Leipzig and we even met Jadon, his family and his agent three years ago,” Rangnick said of the then Borussia Dortmund winger in 2020. “He’s one of the biggest talents in Europe.” Board the Sancho bandwagon early to avoid disappointment.

Price: £8.9m Points: 23 Gameweek 15 fixture: Crystal Palace (h)

Harry Kane (Tottenham)

Harry Kane endured difficult loan spells at Leicester and Norwich in his younger days and seems to have made his mission to make them pay ever since. Kane has scored more goals (17) against Leicester than any other club in his career and has found the net five times in only three meetings with the Canaries. Antonio Conte has called on his players to work hard to narrow the gap between themselves and the top teams and in order to do that, they simply must beat Norwich on Sunday.
