Arsenal are short on strikers heading into the summer after confirming Alexandre Lacazette will leave when his contract expires at the end of this month.
The Frenchman made 206 appearances and scored 71 goals since joining from Lyon in 2017, but is now seeking “a new experience and a new adventure”.
Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta added: “Laca has been a fantastic player for us. He’s been a real leader on and off the pitch and has been a very important influence to our younger players.
“His commitment with us has been exceptional and we wish him and his family success and happiness.”
Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang also departed Arsenal back in January, and though there has been uncertainty around Eddie Nketiah given his current deal expires soon, reports suggest the 23-year-old will be signing a new contract at the Emirates.
Nevertheless, it appears Arsenal are in the market for at least one new forward, and plenty of players have been linked with the club, who were dealt a blow last month when missing out on next season’s Champions League to Tottenham.
Here, i looks at the seven forwards Arsenal could target during the transfer window…
Gabriel Jesus
With Julian Alvarez and Erling Haaland moving to Manchester City, Gabriel Jesus is said to be considering his own future at the club.
Jesus enjoyed a late flurry in the 2021-22 season as City successfully defended their Premier League title, but Haaland’s arrival in particular would see the Brazilian fall down the pecking order.
At Arsenal, he would be a near-guaranteed starter as their No 9, and with 58 goals and 29 assists in 159 league appearances, he is already accustomed to the Premier League.
Teammate Raheem Sterling is another reported option for Arsenal, but it has widely been claimed that Jesus is their top target to replace Lacazette.
Tammy Abraham
Signing the former Chelsea striker may prove difficult given Tammy Abraham enjoyed a successful first season in Italy, but he has opened the door to a possible move.
The England international joined Roma for £34m last summer and went on to score 27 goals across all competitions as the club finished sixth in Serie A and won the inaugural Europa Conference League.
Back in May Abraham told BT Sport he is “more than happy” in Italy, but added: “You never know what the future holds, you can’t write the future, but as far as it is I’m satisfied.”
Abraham revealed Arsenal wanted to sign him last summer, but he was convinced by Jose Mourinho to join him at Roma instead.
Dominic Calvert-Lewin
i’s northern football correspondent Mark Douglas reports Everton are determined to keep hold of Dominic Calvert-Lewin, who is wanted by both Arsenal and Newcastle.

Calvert-Lewin’s representatives are understood to be assessing his options, while Everton need to raise funds to support Frank Lampard’s summer rebuild.
Everton would only entertain offers which they believe reflect their valuation of Calvert-Lewin, whom they place in the bracket below Harry Kane, valued at more than £100m last summer.
Richarlison could be another option for Arsenal, with the Brazilian admitting he is considering his future amid reported interest from the Gunners, as well as Chelsea and Tottenham.
“I’ve already made it clear to the board,” he said while on international duty. “I’ve already talked to Lampard too, with my agents and they know what I want. Let’s wait for June.”
Lautaro Martinez
The Inter striker has been linked with a host of Premier League clubs, including Arsenal, Chelsea, as well as a reunion with Antonio Conte at Tottenham.
However, it would appear Lautaro Martinez wants to stay with Inter, where he won Serie A with Conte in 2020-21.
“I’ve not received communications from the club, (but) as of today I want to continue at Inter next season,” he said recently.
“My plan is clear. I really want to stay at Inter next season.”
Arsenal would need to put forward a substantial bid, therefore, to prise the Argentine away.
Victor Osimhen
Rumours linking Arsenal with Victor Osimhen have persisted for the past few months, but it appears the club may well be priced out by Napoli.

Reports claim Napoli want just shy of £100m for the 23-year-old, who scored 18 goals in 32 games last season.
The Nigerian joined from Lille for £67.5m in 2020, and the Athletic reports that it would be a difficult negotiation for Arsenal to sign him this summer.
