When does the Premier League start? Dates, TV coverage, when fixtures are announced and how winter break works

From the moment Fifa confirmed the 2022 World Cup would be held in November and December, it became clear the 2022-23 season would be no ordinary campaign.

Fifa did announce that decision in 2015, leaving domestic league organisers the world over with time to thrash out their novel plans.

The World Cup has been shortened to 28 days, but still in England that means there will be more than a month where the Premier League and Championship do not take place.

For some players, that means an extended winter break, although those competing in the tournament face a long and arduous campaign, particularly if they go the distance in Qatar.
