With Tottenham, Liverpool and Chelsea in varying levels of the crisis, 2023’s January transfer window could be chaotic – who remembers Fernando Torres and Andy Carroll getting their deadline day moves in 2011?

The first major transfer of the window was Liverpool’s silent coup for Cody Gakpo, snatching the prodigious forward from the clutches of Manchester United and Chelsea without forewarning or fanfare.

Chelsea have signed one youngster already in David Datro Fofana and have their sights on multiple others, with Graham Potter’s Blues linked to another £250m spending spree after their summer splurge.

Meanwhile, Arsenal are heavily linked with a move for Shakhtar Donetsk’s 21-year-old winger Mykhaylo Mudryk.
